While we were talking about our sketchbooks, the subject of highschool and art classes came up. To be honest, I haven't really thought about my portfolio from high school since, well, high school. I remember being so proud of what I accomplished. I didn't think I could get any better, which sounds as if I was amazing. I wasn't. I'm still not as amazing I would like to be, but I'm getting there and that's something I realize, so it's not too disappointing. I digress. So I thought I'd show a little bit of what I did in high school.
These pieces share an uncanny resemblance, at least theme wise, to my Illustrative Alphabet. It's also about pollution in the ocean and the death of sea animals. I specifically decided to focus on clown fish as my main subject.
Side note: When I turned my portfolio in, it was put in a specific order, but while I was making them, I had no order in mind. I don't really remember the order now, so its going to seem random (mind you, it was).
All of these were done on canvas board with watercolor and ball point pen. For some of the details I had also used Jelly Roll gel pen in white.

OMG! These are absolutely beautiful! You have such an amazing foundation. Use it.
ReplyDeleteYou should build on this amazing foundation of art and design. Use it to your advantage.
I'm so happy you put this on your blog. I'm blown away.
